    What is the Undergrowth?

    What was originally a ages-old condemned building, overtaken by nature, has since become The Undergrowth -- a host club and eatery whose mission statement is something for everyone.The Undergrowth welcomes individuals from all walks of life, with the intent of building a community and encouraging others to chase their passions.Hosts are recommended based on their areas of expertise -- meaning we try to have someone for any patron looking for a host, whether they're lonely or just curious. We also have plenty of space for those looking to spend the night out with friends in a relaxing environment.... Iiiiiit's also a front for some less-than-scrupulous activities. Visit often, get to know the staff and let them get to know you, and you might be able to find out exactly how unscrupulous with a VIP membership.The Undergrowth also owns The Chanterelle Ballroom - a dancehall that occasionally hosts live performances. The perfect place
    for those who dance better than they talk. Dance hall openings are spur of the moment, though the mail cat will usually get flyers out on time.    The current primary caretaker of both The Undergrowth and Chanterelle Ballroom is a Naid Carville - distinctly, there is no owner. The buildings own themselves.
    Or so Naid says, anyway.

    How VIP Works

      VIP can be earned through several different ways, none involving actual gil:  

    • Visiting (and chatting!) frequently, whether with staff or with other patrons

    • Community participation - organizing or volunteering for different events

    • Being the owner or employee of an affiliate venue

      VIP members will get access to the following:  

    • The Amanita Auction House, an auction house specializing in esoterica and arcana

    • Order a "piping hot" tea with an individual's name to find out how much we know about them,

    • Or order a "slow steep" tea for us to investigate them.

    • VIP-only events

    • Free usage of the Chanterelle Ballroom basement for personal or venue off-site events

    • "Gardening Parties" - the house needs to eat, too.

      Restrictions  

    • VIP membership only allows for +2 -- if you would like to bring a larger group to a future VIP event, please connect with management ahead of time

    • VIP membership is subject to removal if you are found breaking any of The Undergrowth's rules.

    • Bigoted or harassing behavior on or off hours is also grounds for removal.

    • VIP membership will not fall off if you become inactive for any reason. Take a break, see new sights. We'll be here when you get back.

    Rules

    The Undergrowth does not permit bigotry of any kind, either in character or out of character. Characters and players found intentionally using speech that is hateful or discriminatory will be shown the door - permanently.Mature conversation is allowed and encouraged - explicit conversation should be kept to places like party chat. References are fine - giving a play-by-play of what you and your partner did while having sex last night? Less so.

      In Character  

    • No smoking inside. Mind the plants outside.

    • Cocktail attire is expected of guests, and guests should remain clothed at all time.

    • The Undergrowth accepts people from all walks of life - please be considerate of others.

    • Weaponry must be checked in at the coat check behind the front desk.

    • Use of magicks should be restricted to emergencies only - trying to impress your date is not an emergency.

    • In line with the prior rule, feel free to use our comforting environment to schedule pacts and rituals, but do not perform them on site.

      Out of Character  

    • Minions and weapons are allowed to be out if you can argue for their purpose in character - if your Allagan Melon isn't a service device, it really, really needs to stay home. (We'll give a heads up if minions and weapons need to be away due to capacity or tech concerns.)

    • If you get into a fight, each player gets one good swing determined by /random before Naid kicks you out to cool off.

    • The Undergrowth IS an information broker at its core - please keep in mind what your character reveals about themselves to hosts or in /say chat. Others can hear.

      Northern Empty Modern  
    You've heard of a vintage - but have you heard of a modern? An inventive wine produced by the agriculture students at the Studium, the different grape cross-breeding experiments have produced some ... interesting results. Will this glass of wine sing, or make you want to swing?
    Guest will roll /random or /dice 20, and bartender will provide the flavor profile for that specific glass.

      Dalamud Sour  
    A rendition of the amaretto sour, blood orange soda joins with lemon-lime simple syrup and amaretto liqueur to make a Dalamud red cocktail that'll make your mouth pucker. Completed with a full moon slice of candied blood orange on the rim.

      Dalmascan Sangria  
    This take on a sangria focuses on the Dalmascan Red by mixing cherry juice, apricot brandy, and slices of apples, peaches, and figs. So refreshing, it'll feel like you're spending a summer in Rabanastre.
    Sales of this drink go directly back to restoration efforts in Dalmasca!

      Clíodhna  
    While this drink (prounounced Cleena) may be named after a vindictive green-eyed faerie ... presumably of myth, this drink is anything but. A hot buttered made with apple whisky and vanilla cream, this tastes like warm apple cake in a glass.
    It might make you rethink of turning your sister into a cat, but no promises.

      Tension  
    Made with the Still & String's Odin's Full Moon, the metaphor might be a little heavy handed - but as they say, heavy is the hand that wields the cursed sword. Or something. Moonshine mixed with limoncello and blue curacao, this drink starts off blue until the thinly-frozen cube of orange juice starts to melt, turning the drink a foggy green - while managing not to water the drink down.

      Gelmorran Buzz  
    Crafted by Mephi Morningstar, this green and tangy mix contains Still’s cellar-brewed vodka mixed with a squeeze of lemon juice, followed by naturally Shroud-grown THC-infused vegetable juice and beet juice. Topped with Canto prosecco for a bit of bubble and garnished with mint on top. Technically, it's healthy for you!
    Contains microdosage of THC - drink at your own risk.

      Ilsabard Mule  
    An old classic that may or may not actually originate from Ilsabard. Vodka, ginger beer, and lime juice are poured into a sealed copper mug over ice, with a wedge of lime on the rim.

      Dark Heart Bellini  
    For those that stick to the shadows. A gorey mixture of black cherry puree, pomegranate juice, and champagne. The bubbles in this bloodstream won't give you a heart attack, but it's not gonna fix your iron levels, either. Served in a bloated-bottom flute glass.

    A chacuterie board, but cutely arranged in a large teacup. Comes with prosciutto shaped into roses and salami shaped into tulips. Current cheese offerings are reunion cheese and brie. Accompanied by black walnuts, roasted almonds, slices of canopy apples, shiny muscat grapes, dill pickles, and your choice of honey or jam.

      Rabbit Tails        
    Bite-sized versions of the Rabbit Pie -- all flavor and no fluff, these puffy rabbit stew filled dumplings are sure to hop off your plate. Perfect for light eaters or people who like to share.

      Buscaroon's Pretzel Platter  
    Not actually from Buscaroon's, but we're pretty sure he'd like these. Made to share, but we won't judge you if you want these all to yourself. 5 buttered and salted pretzel twists served with a cheese dip made with Silk & Strings ale, cheddar cheese, and spices. Mustard also available.

    Coconut Cod Chowder. Cod simmered in coconut milk with paprika, tomato, and carrots. ♦ Tomato Bisque. Puréed tomatoes enriched with cream, onions, carrot, dragon peppers, and basil. ♦ Emerald. Bitter, earthy soup made by slow cooking emerald beans with buffalo beans, rock salt, chives, and dodo bouillon. ♦ Baked Onion. Soup made with an auroch stock reduction, simmered with sweet onions, salt, pepper, thyme, and sherry, covered in cheese, and baked until golden. Served in a bread bowl. ♦ Veggie. Simmered in a vegetable broth, broccoli, garlic, onions, carrots, and popotos are cooked until tender, seasoned with pepper and salt.       Salads        
    Hamsa Walnut. Shredded hamsa served with walnuts, pixie apples, pomengranate seeds, blue cheese, and apple cider vinegarette, and tossed with spinach. ♦ Solterito. A salad made up of Eblan lentils and tomatoes, tossed with cooking mezcal and Frantoio oil. ♦ Morel. Young Cieldalaes spinach and La Noscean lettuce tossed with morel mushrooms, emerald beans, sesame seeds, and olive oil. ♦ Blood Tomato. Fresh blood tomatoes, La Noscean Lettuce, and onions tossed in red wine vinegar and seasoned with salt.

    Main

      Rabbit Pie  
    While normally rabbit pie doesn't actually have rabbit in it, the Undergrowth firmly believes that you should get what you've paid for. A savory hand pie shaped like a rabbit, stuffed with hare marinated and cooked with ginger snap cookies, black peppercorns, salt, onions, garlic, lemon, sage, thyme, rosemary, allspice, juniper berries, cloves, and bay leaf.

      Crispy Mister        
    A version of a famous Ishgardian sandwich, transliterated. Cave cheese, cured ham, and dragonpepper jelly between two slices of thick, fluffy bread is dipped into an egg mixture and cooked on a griddle, then dusted with powdered sugar. Comes with two sandwiches. Served with seasoned Dalamud popoto wedges or your choice of soup. Ask for a Gooey Mister if you want extra-melty cheese.

      The Matron  
    Spiral lentil pasta in a rich sauce made of flying trap leaves, frantoio oil, garlic, and other spices, and served with toasted kupo nuts and sauteed chanterelle mushrooms, this is sure to make you and Nophica's helpers happy in equal measure - if only because this meal helps cut down the flying trap population. Perfect for those who avoid animal products. Ask for parmesean if you don't care that much.

      Trapper's Plate        
    A selection of blood sausage, minced boar off-cuts and offals meatballs, dodo liver and onions, peas, and mashed popotoes mixed with mun-tuy sauce and seasonings. From nose to tail.

    Desserts

      Pastila  
    Airy, marshmallowy treats made of super-sour apples, sweetened with honey and covered in powder sugar. Softer than the rear end of a moogle. Don't tell them we said that.

      Cake Trios        
    For those who want to have their cakes and eat them, too. In rememberance of sweeter weather, and a reminder to keep warm. Three small tea-flavored sponge cakes with floral buttercreams, the pairings are: Earl grey cake with magnolia buttercream and topped with candied magnolia petals, lemon tea cake with lavender buttercream and topped with candied lavender flowers, and cinnamon chai cake with rose butter cream and topped with candied rose petals. (Options change seasonally.)

      Cookie Platter  
    Best served with coffee, tea, hot cocoa, or a hot toddy, this is a platter including dark-chocolate dipped hazelnut cookies, maple mun-tuy barley cookies, Turali marranitos (pig cookies), and Gyr Abanian lokma (fried sweet dough).

    For the purposes of this venue, 'booking' refers to requesting and scheduling time with a host. We are IC gil only, but we recommend tipping your host.Host booking is managed at the front desk -- guests can either request a host based on their interests, or they can ask the front desk to make a recommendation for you.At this time, we will not accommodate hosts being booked in advance or off-hours -- our hosts may choose to offer this on their own, but the house will not facilitate it.
